Heya, guys! I am not dead, but! I'm going to be changing some stuff around here, and I'll be updating within a week.

Just got back from England from Gemma and Henry's wedding, and CONGRATS again to the two of you! It was wonderful. <3

And happy birthday to the folks I missed this month, Todd and Swift! Hope they were excellent.

Be back in a bit!

Arrrgh. I've been pretty busy again, and sort of perpetually angry all through the winter break, but I'm feeling a lot better, so I'll be updating this more often. Had a midterm Monday in my Western Civ class, and I'll have another one Thursday, if all goes well. >> I've been expecting this particular midterm (in my History of Byzantium class) for about two weeks now, but I am pretty sure at this point it's Thursday.

Also, I have a giant rant about one of my roommates, but I don't think anyone wants to hear about that one.

Also, to prove I haven't been totally lazy, I have a WIP. This is also the first thing I've done totally on the computer that I've tried to move past the lolscribblez stage, and I'm rather pleased with it. Hopefully, the finished thing will end up looking far more polished, but at this point, it just looks totally awesome.

Matt was watching me work on it, and he was like, "That looks awesome." And I was like, "Yeah."

Okay, kidding a little bit there, but still. Here ya go:

We had an earthquake tonight!

Matt and I were in Karazhan in WoW tonight, when we got hit by the strongest earthquake I can remember since Loma Prieta in '89. Nothing was damaged or anything, but some stuff fell off the counters and bookshelves and whatnot. Some folks on various channels in WoW were talking about how it was only a little earthquake, but I assumed they're a lot farther from the center than we were, since it was the strongest earthquake I could remember since, yeah, '89. If these things shake shit off the shelves, they're pretty strong! Most earthquakes are nice and gentle and don't move much around, and don't last for very long. This one was at least a good 10-15 seconds or so, and shook a whole lot of stuff.

Poor Oscar, though. ;_; After the earthquake we couldn't find him for a while. Turns out he was hiding under the chair for a few hours, and still is walking around carefully. Just in case.

Trey, on the other hand, was sleeping on the bed. She sort of half-got up during the quake, and just laid down again afterward. I talked to my mom, and she told me at first the earthquake wasn't as strong in Salinas, which made it sound like the center was around here, which explained why it was so strong for us. The news has it now--it WAS the strongest earthquake in the area since Loma Prieta. It was 5.6 magnitude, and centered about 9 miles from San Jose.

All in all, quite exciting. I do like me a good (non-fatal or destructive) earthquake, one ye can really feel. This is probably because I'm nuts, but still!

First off, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GEMMA! :D I hope it's going GREAT.

Next, belated birthday wishes to [info]spacejaggy as well.

I've been home the last couple of days for Elise's birthday as well, which was two days ago. She and Edgar, and about five of their friends, as well as Mom, Tim, and I went to a Benihana's in Monterey for it. HOOOOOLY SHIT. I had a teriyaki steak, which, at $21, was one of the cheapest items on the menu. I think poor Mom about had a heart attack when she saw the check. Still, it was a lot of fun, they had awesome showmanship while they cooked the food at your table, and we all got to see Elise perform an amusing birthday dance.

Note to self: Do not go to Benihana's for my birthday.

Tim had his wisdom teeth removed right before my mom came to pick me as well, so he was bleeding from the gums and stumbling around from the drugs for a while, but he seems to be fine now, except for not being able to eat solid food and having fun with the vicodin. (Fuck vicodin, man. That shit did nothing for me when I had my wisdom teeth out. Seriously, the ibuprofin worked better.)

Also, and this is the big news, a few days before my mom came to get me, I was picking Trey up, and felt a lump beneath the skin near her armpit, so when I went home, Trey came with me. We dropped her off at my mom's work to get it checked out. It turns out that the lump was connected to her nipple, so the doctor had to take that out as well. Also, she woke up from the anesthesia mad. When we went to pick her up, the vet tech there told my mom that she woke up pissed and pulled her catheter out.

Tech: "That cat's crazy!"
Me: "That's my baby. *sniffsniff*"

So now I have a seven-nippled cat. Trey seems pretty good at the moment, she's not having much trouble jumping around despite having a ton of staples in her chest. She's mostly just lying around resting for now, which she should be doing.

They sent the lump off for a biopsy, so we should hear what it is in about a week. Hopefully, it's nothing too horrible, but I am worried about my kitty.

Okay, so more updates on blah, and I am seriously grinning like an idiot. XD

Today has been pretty awesome. Aside from getting hired fully at the warehouse, which I am still all happy and squeeing over, more (NERD ALERT) fun stuff has been going on.

This is WoW stuff, by the way.

So, Matt got into Fire, the leading guild (Horde-side, and at this point, server-wide) raiding guild on our server, and weaselled my ass in a few weeks ago. I didn't get to do much for a while, since the rogue class leader was a creepy, angry little man powertripping all over the place, and he wasn't too fond of me 'cause I got in on invite from the guildmaster, thanks to Matt. Anyway, he got booted last week, because he was apparently fucking with people's raid attendance and DKP, which he was in charge of.

The new rogue class master turns out to be pretty amazingly nice, gives me a bunch of stuff, and says that he's going to be looking to fill out the last raiding rogue spot, so he's going to get me into raids this week. Earlier this week, I went to Gruul's Lair, which didn't go too well, in part because the internet kept booting in the middle of the fight, and partly because I am fairly undergeared compared to the other rogues. Today, he takes me to Karazhan, which is a ten-man raid.

Not only do I come out of this with new epic-level gloves, I ended completely replacing both my weapons, and my new OH is a server-first drop, and I got the raiding spot! He says it won't be right away, because I'm still pretty under-geared, but he'll be actively working on gearing me out, and once I'm up, TEH RAIDZ BE MINE.

Also, I've had a bit of whiskey and pineapple juice. Just everything combined today has made me a very happy girl. It's like I can't stop smiling or something!

Anyway, there's your geekdom for the night.

Also, have a pictar! Since Gemma wanted one for a while. :P Jenny took this one with my camera. Sneaky.

Me and teh Matt. )

[mood | cheerful]

Hokay, I've been working 8 hours a day for about the past two weeks, and just finished finals last week. They kindasorta went okay. I think I may have failed my Art History class, since the tests for that guy are rather hard, as far as the memorization of dates and a crapton of Italian names go. My photo class went great, and I'm pretty sure the other two were all right, but I have to check.

My big news is that today, I got hired on at the warehouse. This semester, I've just been seasonal/temporary help at the Spartan Bookstore on campus, but the work for us was going to run out on the 8th. I was like, "Oh, crap, I have to see about finding another job," after I got that email yesterday, but today the bosses at the warehouse talked to me, and they said they'd be happy to have me stay on there, so YAY. No customers for meeeeeeee. :D

In bad news, Matt found two jobs that looked promising, but one of them decided to go for someone else, and the other told him that they'd take him, then he got an email saying they gave the position to someone else. He emailled them, but no answer there yet. >< This is immensely frustrating, as it's the second time he's been led on like that since he got here.

In other good new, my investments dude called the other day, and I have more money than I thought, so we should be good for another little while. Hopefully, Matt will be able to find a good job soon, that actually takes him.

I'm on my lunch break from work at the moment, so I have to run. >> Will update more later.

It be mah birfday! I'm 22 this year, and I feel ancient.

Haven't really done anything today for it, though, since I have classes all day. Courtney threw a bit of a party on Saturday, although it was definitely a college party. I knew maybe five of the people who showed up (and man, there were a lot). In fact, one of the guys (if you'll allow me to abuse the italic tags) actually arrived with a mostly empty flask of what I'd guess was vodka. They broke out the Jager Bombs first. I had about three of them, and a vodka mixer while mingling for politeness, then Matt and I snuck off to the bedroom. We ended up watching two episodes of Deadwood, and... fell asleep. We are so very, very boring. Woke up at about eleven the next morning, and emerged cautiously, wary of the damage. The entire floor was sticky, the window screen was on the kitchen floor, Matt discovered a bag of puke on the counter, and there was a fuckton of giant empty bottles scattered about. o.O

When Courtney got home from work that day, turns out she got locked of her room, so they took the screen out to crawl over to her window, apparently. She said a couple of guys got sick, but she didn't know about the bag, etc. Luckily, she didn't care that we checked out of the party early, so that's good. Matt says he did the heavy-partying thing when he was 18-22, and wasn't particularly interested in repeating that again. Me, I'm just hideously boring.

I've got some other news, but since I'm in class, I'll add those to a new post.

Since my last update, I went to my grandparents for my mom's family's annual Christmas party, which miraculously enough, everyone made it to this year, except for Elise. Getting to see everyone again was great, especially since I haven't seen Jimmy, Ryan, and Alexa in near forever. The one point of excitement was that my cousin Kristin's baby, Mia, fell off the couch and broke her arm about the day we got there, and had a little cast on the rest of the time. Sadly, I didn't find out about it till the next when I saw her and was like "*points at Mia's arm* Buh?" Apparently, no one realised her arm was broken until Kristin was tying to get her readt for bed. I got a couple of gift certificates and some money from the family.

Then we came home, and my dad came over, and we had our Christmas at home. I got a ton of CDs, a anthology book on Vampires, The Last Unicorn novel, some clothes, and the main thing I wanted, a little mp3 player, so I can take my emo music on the go. :P

Then it was time to head to Ohio, which is where I am now, to visit Gemma and Henry, and which has been absolutely great. They are tall, though, and I feel teeny here. >> I'll write a more detailed soon, but for now, the basics: Gemma and Henry are SICK CUTE, and they're both absolutely awesome, and of course, treating me like the royalty of Prunetucky that I am. We had a bit an adventure right after I arrived, when Henry's car stopped working in the middle of the freeway, and we had to wait for a tow truck, and the cops came up and sat behind us with their lights flashing. We've basically spent the visit hanging out and watching TV and on the internet, which has been a lot of fun as well. Hopefully, Gemma has not realised how boring I really am!

The other bit of excitement was that while I was talking on my computer in the bathroom (basically, their stolen wireless only really works with my laptop in their bedroom and half of the hall. The bathroom is right next to the bedroom), I suddenly started feeling nauseated, dizzy, and really heavy, passed out, and woke up on the floor with a hole in my head, a scrape from landing on my glasses on the bridge of my nose, and a scratch on my chin. Ow. Apparently, Gemma heard the crash. She called the paramedics to make sure I didn't have a concussion, and as I understand, they thought I might be coming down with a stomach bug or something--that my blood pressure is naturally low from how skinny I am, and a sudden dip could make me pass out. >< Cue fussing!

We went to the zoo the day after that, which was great! Except that it was really cold and rainding practically the whole time we were there, so Gemma and I were kind of scurrying through the time to the indoor exhibits. It was still really impressive, though, I'll say. Today we went to the aquarium here as well, and that was also very impressive. The shark tank was amazing, and I got some nifty pictures. After we left the aquarium, we went to hang out at a Barnes and Noble to wait for Henry to pick us up. I was looking for certain fiction novels, but they didn't have any of the ones that I was looking for, so I ended up picking up a couple non-fiction books, including The Wars of Irish Kings, which looks pretty interesting.

But tomorrow I must be flying home, which makes me very sad, as I've had a great time here, although I imagine they'll probably be glad to be rid of me for a bit. *cackles*

Okay, that was longer than I expected. Nice!

[book |Black is the Colour]

All righty! :D

I'm at home now, and I've been loafing around for the most part. My mom came and got me on Friday, since she and Elise and I were going to go to her work's Christmas party/dinner at this spiffy expensive restaurant. Keeping in mind, as a poor university student, my diet is generally noodles, soup, and sandwiches... I had steak (one of the four options they had). With garlic mashed potatoes and green beans. And onion rings. It was so good. ;_;

And then mom had me going through some boxes and such so she could move some furniture into the room I stay in when I'm at home on Monday. Blah.

But today, I had some appointments. First, we went to Penny's for an eye exam, since the last one I had was like... Uh, six years ago or so, and things far away were getting harder to read again. And my glasses were getting rather bent and, well, bent. :P I got to pick out a new pair of frames as well. They're short, and a bit round, and a darker blue than my current ones, but I rather like them, as they make my eyes look brighter. Hopefully, the new glasses will be in before I go to Ohio. :D I also ordered a few more boxes of contacts, so I should be set on eye problems for a while.

Then we went to my hearing aid doctor's place to get my hearing aid's tubing replaced and the mold cleaned out better than I could do it. My mom was asking about getting an in-the-ear hearing as well, instead of the behind-the-ear one I have now. Apparently, there's some new hearing that's supposed to be really awesome and can handle my range of amplification. So, we'll see about that, I guess.

Then we went across the street to a buffet that was so very, very nummy. Dropped off some papers, and hit a few stores on the way home. Then I was a bit tired, so I napped for a bit. We watched "The Devil Wears Prada," which was all right. And that was Tuesday.

Hail gentle readers!

This is not, as you might believe, your beloved [info]kefi. No, it is I, an imposter! You may call me the Wet Willy, The Screaming Moist, or (on rare occasions) Sugar Buns. In my great superiousness (yes, that's a word: I just invented it!) wisdom, using my many skillz taught to me by 13 year old WoW users with an obsession for hacking games so female Nelves will take their clothes off and bounce around a lot, I have haxxorzed dear Kefi's account.

But do not be afraid! I have no intention of spamming you with foul porn (Tub Girl, anyone? No, innocent friends, do not Google that if you treasure your sight), links to naff communities, or pictures of me in various stages of undress. I considered this, of course, but decided that a/ Tub Girl is so blaise, chikas; b/ I'm sure you, like me, read enough naff communities already without my help (after all, this is LJ); c/ my delicious, naked form would only serve to make you so jealous that your brain would melt out of your ears (it has happened, ye of little faith).

No! Instead I have just one, vital message for you all:

Shakespeare is AWSOM

That is all.

Signed,

ALL RIGHT, my keyboard is fixed. -.- Although, they made me pay for it, but whatever, cause my keyboard is fixed!

So, airshow! It was great, although my camera battery failed, and I had to resort to my phone to take pictures. So...I can send them to, uh, pictures phones. But they also all suck because they're pictures taken a phone, and thus are tiny and grainy. I am most disappointed about this, since there were some pretty awesome airplanes, and some...really cracktastic ones.

For example, and I am not joking, there were TWO, not one, but TWO airplanes on display that... *snigger*

Okay, they had in big rainbow letters, "JESUS IS THE LORD". Against rainbows. Sadly, the pictures on my phone suck, and you can't see it. I did get a few nifty pictures of some WWII era warplanes, though. And a picture of the Harrier landing after its show. I wanted to get a picture of some of the planes during the show, but, yeah, camera phone. They would have looked like a speck of dust on a picture of the sky. My dad got some pictures, though, so I'll have to see if he can send them to me. It was nifty, though. One of the acts involved parts falling off the plane while it continued to do acrobatics.

Still in school. Woe.

Also, I've got a bit of inspiration of where to go with Caravan, but it's going to involve entirely scrapping some plots that I had in mind, and revamping some characters, so I've got to think about the best way to do it. Must ponder this some more.

OH! And while I'm on the subject of Caravan, for you guys who link to our site, it will be going down at the beginning of November, and put up again under a different name with the therian stuff removed. Neither of us is particularly prolific with our writings, and more or less, we feel there's very little more we can add. What we do have, however, is hosted on a much lovelier site by the wonderful Aloïs, so that's where they can be found. :) The focus and look of the website will be geared towards our personal projects, art and writing, etc.

Okay!

I'm back at school now. We had a bit of a problem with the internet, in that it took a while to get it working, then it would keep going down for hours, and then it would be hideously slow, but that seems to be more or less fixed! So, I should be around a bunch more.

As some of you may or may not, I had a bit of a problem with signing for some of my classes.

Story!

The Bio Department put a registration hold on my account, which kept me from being able to sign up for classes, although I was not actually INFORMED of this hold, put on by the Bio department, until July. So, I got the letter, and I've got to talk to a Bio advisor to get the hold taken off.

Whoops. All righty. So I get back to school, go over to the Bio department offices, and no one's there. Curious. I go to the trusty internets, where I learn that the Bio department does not have any advisors available during the summer.

Cue the evil glare of death. Great timing there, dudes. Keep me from being able to sign up for my classes, and don't let me know about this until it's too late to talk to someone!

Sent an email, nothing. So I got to the Admin building, to see if they can take it off. They tell me the Art department put it on, and they can't take off a hold that my major department put on my account. I roll my eyes, and trudge over to the Art building, where they DO have advisors during the summer. I talk to one of them, and lo! The Bio department put it on. Anyway, I tell her I'm not doing anything in the Bio major anymore, I'm staying in Art, and I'd like the thing taken off my account so I can sign up for my classes.

Yay! It's off!

Too bad it's a little too late to sign up for all but two classes. I spent the first week of school running around trying to add classes.

Which I did! Thankfully, since any less than 12 units means I can't be a full-time student.

So, long story short, here's my schedule for this semester.

Art 13, 3D Concepts, MW 3:30-6:20p
Art 14, Colour Theory, MW 6:30-9:30p
Hist 10a, Western Civ through 1300, TR 10:30-11:45a
Anth 12, Intro to Human Evolution, TR 12:00-1:15p

Also, I've got to work on drawing more often, as I've been quite the lazy ass for the past few weeks. I can't promise anything full colour and totally awesome, but throw out suggestions, if you like. I want to do at least one semi-good sketch a day, and I'll post them as well. Whether it's Wacom or pencil, I will do something.

Working on catching up with everyone. :)

I LIVE!

No, seriously. :D

School is out! I'm going home for about two weeks or so tomorrow evening, but then I'll be back at home. My lovely notebook and myself will be going home for relaxation and whatnot. Other than this, not much has been going on, Trey and I are just releasing stress.

Actually, I don't remember if I said anything about that, but we've snuck Trey into the apartment. She's been very good and non-destructive or disruptive thus far. I love mah kitty.

I'll be getting back into the habit of updating, and also, I turn on IMs when the computer's on, so feel free to give me a poke if you like.

I missed you guys. Sorry about the total lack of updates and such. *cough*

Quick update:

I found out today that my boss is gonna be retiring either this Friday or the next, which is really sad and depressing, cause he is awesome. Michelle, one of my co-workers, said that it was for his health, she heard. Given that, and that my roommate isn't going to working there next semester either, I'm not sure whether I'll stay on at the SU dining, or try to find another (and better paying job).

I'm a bit behind in answering my email, but I will get to it. Promise.

Also, note to self: No ogling the hot chicks. ;)

And lastly, the awesome: Escape Key
Check out "Into the Fire" and "The Girl that's Never Been," especially. And "Ladies Don't Do Those Things" is very good as well.

Second note to self: investigate filk.

My brother and I called the tech support, and we're back online at home now, so that's all fixed. I got my final grade for Chem in the mail as well: C+. That means I passed! Party time here, I think.

My brother and I have been alone in the house since my mom and Elise went up to the hospital for chemo Tuesday morning. Tim and I are very similar in our inherent laziness and nocturnal preferences, so we've been watching TV and playing computers for a couple of days, and sleeping in till the afternoon. It's the good life, although Elise and mom are due back sometime tomorrow, so alas, that shall be curbed right soon. I wish one of us could drive, and preferably me, so we could do something. We're having Christmas a little late this year, since Elise is probably not going to be feeling really well this soon after chemo.

Although I haven't been entirely unproductive. I've got a bunch of drawings that turned out really well, I think, so I'll be colouring those when my new computer gets here, which should be able to handle PS and the new Elder Scrolls game, when it comes out, really well. I can't wait for it to get here, really, although unfortunately they couldn't get the 7200rpm hard drive I asked for, so I'm getting one with twenty more gigs but only 5400rpm. Hopefully, it won't make that much of a difference, since the rest of the stats are high.

I should be going back to San Jose near the beginning of January to move my stuff into my room, and pay the bills for the apartment I'm moving into. *evil squint* I've been informed that my stuff, which I had to move out last Friday, when they kicked us out of the Campus Village, and moved into a corner of Courtney's apartment, has been moved into Courtney's boyfriend's apartment, which is right next door. Because her roommates didn't like it there. The boxes and stuff weren't even in the way! But I can totally see why Courtney was so eager to see the tail-end of her roommates, cause they're creepy. Really, really creepy. And like...weird. Ah. Well.

I've got a bunch of stuff to catch up on online, so I'll be around for a while now. :D
